The number one question we hear is, what filters should I be using in my RO/DI? The answer to this is, it depends on your water supply. Here's a little information and some recommendations for the 3 main types of water.

The sediment filters take out suspended or emulsified materials that may be present in feed water such as silica, oil, clay, iron, and humic acids that can plug the pores of your carbon filters or foul your membrane. If you have a high sediment load, a 5 micron is recommended so clogging does not drop the water pressure to your membrane. Low sediment loads can benefit from a 1 micron sediment filter.

Carbon block filters use compressed powdered carbon and often offer 10 to 100 times greater dechlorination than a similar weight of GAC. Plus offer no channeling and fines escaping to your membrane. Our chloramine carbon block sets offer the best filtration solution without the issue of carbon dust. Microporus carbons such as coconut shell often exhibit low interpore diffusity, and are not necessarily the best choice for dechlorination.

Well Water Array

Choice of:

  • 1 or 5 micron Sediment filter
  • 2 - CTO/2 Carbon block filters
  • 1 - DI refill with cartridge

2 CTO/2 workhorse carbon blocks for water with no chlorine to worry about.

Chlorinated Water Array

Choice of:

  • 1 or 5 micron Sediment filter
  • 1 - CTO/2 Carbon block filter
  • 1 - +1 Carbon block filter
  • 1 - DI refill with cartridge Economical CTO/2 workhorse carbon block to take care of chlorine, and a +1 to back it up and make sure no chlorine gets to the membrane.

Chloramine Water Array

  • 1 POLY SEDIMENT 1 MICRON FILTER
  • 1 CHLORAMINE MASTER NH2CL STAGE 2 CARBON BLOCK
  • 1 CHLORAMINE MASTER NH2CL STAGE 3 CARBON BLOCK
  • 1 COLOR CHANGING DI RESIN CARTRIDGE
