The Filter Guys Filter Arrays |

The number one question we hear is, what filters should I be using in my RO/DI? The answer to this is, it depends on your water supply. Here's a little information and some recommendations for the 3 main types of water. The sediment filters take out suspended or emulsified materials that may be present in feed water such as silica, oil, clay, iron, and humic acids that can plug the pores of your carbon filters or foul your membrane. If you have a high sediment load, a 5 micron is recommended so clogging does not drop the water pressure to your membrane. Low sediment loads can benefit from a 1 micron sediment filter. Carbon block filters use compressed powdered carbon and often offer 10 to 100 times greater dechlorination than a similar weight of GAC. Plus offer no channeling and fines escaping to your membrane. Our chloramine carbon block sets offer the best filtration solution without the issue of carbon dust. Microporus carbons such as coconut shell often exhibit low interpore diffusity, and are not necessarily the best choice for dechlorination.
