We have tested dual membranes for well over four years with impressive results. The best dual membrane system appears to be dual Filmtec 75 GPD's. However, you do need 60-65 psi of pressure or higher or results will be disappointing. If your pressure is lower best results are achieved with the Aquatec 8800 booster pump which boosts pressure to 85-90 pounds. If you have a problem water system or bad water chemistry where a single membrane performs poorly a dual membrane system is not for you.

We have also tested the new 150 GPD membranes but high pressure is must as single membranes are rated for 65 psi or higher. I would only run dual 150's with the Aquatec 8800 pump. Dual 75 GPD's can overproduce beyond 150 GPD but the Dual 150's seem to only reach capacity at 300 gallons. Waste ratios with both sized membranes run about 1.5 to 1 or lower and this is a great reduction from the 4 to 1 single membrane ratio. This truly is a water saver membrane conversion kit.

Upon system start-up and every hour thereafter, the 24 VAC normally closed solenoid valve automatically "power-flushes" the membrane at full pump flow, or full line pressure in unboosted systems, for 18 seconds every hour. Turbulent water action scrubs organic and inorganic contaminants from the membrane surface, extending membrane life and efficiency. The AFR 600 requires its own transformer or can be powered by the pump transformer. The valve has a built in, self cleaning, flow restrictor which allows controlled flow to drain when the valve is in the de-activated (closed) state.
